da' garden of steve

As I recall so vividly, the temperature in PDX around this time last last year was in the high 90's. And I was fortunate enough to be unloading my U-haul during the heat -- not to mention living in a top-floor apartment without A/C! This year however, the weather is nearly a complete opposite and I'm loving it...mostly.

There have been a few warm and sunny days and quite a few cloudy and rainy days as well. My garden is thriving -- my tan is nearly non-existent...oh well, can't have everything.

Snow?

Well, I feel like a goof. Back in January, when we had our snow-storm, I made a slideshow of the snow in downtown Portland. Somehow, I forgot to post a link to it...only about 5 months late, here it is! Click on the picture to see it...if it doesn't work, it's because you don't have Flash installed.

advertising as art?

I guess this could be considered art...even tho' it's part of a Nordstrom window display.

we've peaked

Well, yesterday was the Summer solstice and now we're gonna lose around a minute of sunlight per day...DAMN! At least that means going to bed at 9:30 will be okay again cuz it'll be dark and most of the neighborhood rugrats will be in bed too.

Anyway, tonight there was enough "magical light" to use about 3-gigabytes of memory on my camera...I've sorted through the pics and here's a couple good uns. More to come, my eyes are a bit tired to sort through them all at the moment.

You know the drill...if you're squinting at these pics, just click on 'em to see larger version...yadda-yadda : ]

one of the two nightshade family members in my garden...the other, a japanese eggplant.

tomatoes, eggplant and tomatillos don't have an effect on me....so I'm impatiently waiting for my plants to produce.

Art is everywhere, if you're able to see it.

Cool riding

Riding along the river is soooo cool, especially when the temperature has been hovering in the 80's.

Took a long ride along the Columbia River this morning. Rode around 30 miles, which isn't far, however my CamelBak ran dry after about 22 miles and at that point I realized that my wallet and money were sitting on my dresser at home. Anyway, the ride didn't kill me, just made me aware that I'm overly excited about getting out when the weather is good.
